Black-Built. Black-Owned. Black-Controlled.

Since 2023, Plaitx has been a marketplace dedicated to strengthening Black communities. For too long, Black wealth has flowed out of our neighborhoods, fueling businesses that give nothing back. Plaitx is a space where our entrepreneurs, buyers, and community members can connect, grow, and organize without outside interference. Built, owned, and managed by Black people who are ‘on code’, Plaitx exists to ensure our communities thrive.

The Story Behind Plaitx

Plaitx was born from a hard truth: Black communities are vulnerable online. The platforms we use (social media, marketplaces, and business tools) are owned by people who do not have our best interests at heart. They can suppress our voices, limit our reach, and shut down our businesses at any moment.

“I learned this firsthand when I realized my posts weren’t reaching people. I asked my sister to confirm if she could see my posts and she said no. My unapologetically Black voice was shadow banned. I realized, if they could silence me, they could do it to thousands, even millions, of Black people. And we have no real way of fighting back.”

So, I built Plaitx.

Plaitx is a platform that protects and uplifts our communities both online and offline. It’s a space where we control our narrative, our economy, and our future. Even the name Plaitx reflects us. Inspired by our hair and the art of braiding, it represents strength, unity, and the ways we come together. Just like our hair, our communities are meant to be woven together; stronger, connected, and built to last.

What Makes Plaitx Different?

Plaitx is a lifeline for our communities. When emergencies happen, if the internet goes down, if food is scarce, if the power grids fail, Facebook won’t help. Twitter/X won’t step in. Walmart and McDonald’s will be closed. But Plaitx will be there.

Built for Black communities. Every feature, every tool, every event is designed with us in mind.
Beyond the internet. Plaitx isn’t just an online platform, it’s a force in real life with the Big Hood Flea Market.
We reinvest in ourselves. Every sale, every listing, every interaction strengthens our businesses and keeps wealth circulating in our communities.

How Plaitx Works

On Plaitx, our voices are centered.
During Black History Month, “White History Month” won’t trend. We don’t allow our spaces to be hijacked or attention to be shifted away from what truly matters. This is a platform where we thrive, uninterrupted.
